Standing Room Only for Vinings History!
History buffs from VHPS and Cobb Landmarks and Historical Society assembled at The Old Pavilion for an evening of history and stories of old Vinings. Tony Doyle, author of "Vinings Revisited" was a featured speaker and expounded on Vinings' colorful history. Pat Ferguson Kinder was on hand to share stories of her childhood growing up in her father's general store, now the Vinings Inn. Josh Langston, of Langston Studio, introduced the new DVD, "Crossroads, a history of Vinings," which he produced for VHPS. The DVD traces the history of Vinings from Indian days, through Hardy Pace's establishment of his ferry and through the Civil War. Photographs of the Pace and Yarbrough families, donated by Clare Isanhour, were on display.
The Old Pavilion was elegantly decorated by Extremely Extravagant Events and although the event was billed as "wine and cheese," guests were actually treated to a full catered meal. The Vinings Inn donated a chafing dish of their signature barbecue sliders and Extremely Extravagant Events served delicious stuffed pasta shells, salad and rolls. Garrison's topped off the evening with an array of wonderful desserts.
